Where Did The Time Go?
I had another realization yesterday, on this journey that you call middle age.
A neighbor of ours, who grew up with the girls and I have known since she was about 8 or 9, had a baby shower. The babies that I have watched grow up are having babies. She's in her twenties, just like Izzie, but when I heard about the shower, I got to thinking about how many friends from Izzie's high school are either married or married with babies. That shocked me. Thankfully, Izzie is taking her time and hasn't even made mention of wanting to get married yet. Thank the good Lord above! I'm not ready for that. I'm not even 40. Ok, so 40 is less than 6 months away, but still. Could you imagine someone calling me mother in law or Grandma? No, no, no. Too early.
It was just such an amazing realization that this kids that I babysat, or came to our house to play and have sleepovers, are now becoming parents. That confirms it. I'm officially old. It's just mind boggling watching time just moving along. It's hard to wrap my mind around it. I'm still struggling with the fact that Bubby is in 7th grade this year! Not to mention Doodle a freshman in college and Izzie a senior. They definitely aren't babies anymore....
