Baking Soda!!!

No home should ever be without a box of this lovely multi-talented stuff! It works wonders in many ways, other than just opening a box and putting it in your refrigerator or freezer! (Which by the way is a wonderful way to use it and the box should be changed monthly!)

1. Vinegar plus baking soda equals clean drains! Put about 1/2 cup of baking soda in your sink or bathtub drain. Follow with 1/2-1 cup of vinegar. Let set about 10 minutes and follow with hot water. Cleans the drains right up!

2. Freshen your carpet! Sprinkle baking soda all over your carpet and let set at least 15 minutes, but longer is better. Vacuum as you normally would!

3. To make your own "Soft Scrub", mix a little baking soda with a little water and salt. You can add some lemon essential oil for fragrance. Use all over your counter tops and stove. This is very gentle yet effective.

4. If you get stung by a bee, create a paste with baking soda and water and pat over the affected area. It will create a cool relief and draw the sting out.
5. To clean your combs and brushes, soak combs and brushes in a hot water solution.  4 cups of hot water to a ½ cup baking soda. Soak for 1-2 hours then rinse clean.
6. To clean your toilets and leave it smelling fresh, pour in 1 cup baking soda to toilet water,  then 4-6 drops of Tea Tree essential oil, then pour in 1 cup of vinegar. Watch it fizz and foam and clean your toilet.  Swish with toilet bowl brush. This is also good for sanitizing.
7. My dad always used this one for heartburn and indigestion- Combine 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and drink for indigestion.
8. To keep your cutting boards fresh and clean, whether plastic or wood, clean by scrubbing them with a paste made from 1 tbsp of each ;baking soda, salt, and water. After you are finished rinse with hot water.
9.  To exfoliate your skin, make a paste using 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Apply to your face with your hands and rub gently to slough off dead skin, and leave your skin with a glow.
10. Gargle with warm water and baking soda to heal and calm sore throats.
11. To relieve aches and pains, mix 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup apple cider vinegar, and 1 cup hydrogen peroxide in a warm tub of water. Soak only for about 20 minutes though. This is also good for your lymph nodes. 
12. Burned dinner? No problem! Sprinkle bottom of burned pan.  Add one inch of water and bring to a boil.  It will remove the burned on junk fast.
13. To keep garbage odors out of the garbage can, use baking soda. Sprinkle the bottom of your garbage can, and also sprinkle the inside of the bag once you have lined the garbage can.
14. Got a stained or stinky tupperware? Wipe with a damp cloth sprinkled with baking soda! And to remove stains, soak them in a mixture of 4 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 quart of water!
15. Did your little Picasso draw you a picture on the wall last night? Grab a damp sponge sprinkled with baking soda and wipe the wall down. The picture will disappear!
